Christmas is aqua!

Sorry I've been quiet of late. Parent's evening left me feeling depressed and overwhelmed. I should have been super happy that my little girl is doing fabulously well but the realisation that school had little to do with education and fostering a love of learning and more to do with exam passing was just depressing. The new reading book she's brought home has 32 pages with 5 lines on each page. She only turned 5 at the end of August. I've spent the weekend chasing her around the house trying to get her to read the book and answer comprehension questions. :( Sorry for moaning. I could sob. Any words of wisdom will be gratefully received.

Okay, sorry for that. How much am I loving this Go Kreate die? I am so glad that I blew my last £30 on it at Harrogate! This is one of my daughter's stamps that I've borrowed. She has such good taste!

This is the only card I've made in a week! I really need to get a scoot on with Christmas cards and a few samples for Dreamees who will be at the NEC in November.

A close up of that cute bear (how could I resist):

For the card I used:

Go Kreate XXL Square Frilly Frame 10
LOTV 'Cuddling Ted' and sentiment
Nitwit collection Holiday Charm paper
Copics
Creative Expressions Organza Rose
Cheery Lynn French Pastry Doily Die
Lace and Ribbon - WOC
Spellbinders Snowflake
Pearl Trim - Ebay

Apologies for the rant; I do feel a little better for getting it off my chest. Thank you for coming by, hugs, Jayne xx

I'm entering this into:
ABC Christmas - U is up to you

Good Morning Jayne, Well worth waiting for, it is a beautiful creation and a favourite colour. Great choice of spend. No words of wisdom on the education front except to say that the fashion when mine were little was quantity and presentation and I would have gladly settled for a bit more worthwhile content. xx Flora

gorgeous card Jayne. love the colours you've used. My kids are a bit older than yours (two eldest stepdaughters now thru uni & working, our daughter at uni in 2nd year and youngest son is 14 in 3rd year at a grammar!. We've been very lucky that ours had no probs academically but I realised a while ago that schools are interested in their overall sats results, positions on league tables, etc., so encouragement in learning, love of reading, etc., is down to us as parents I'm afraid -apart from the occasional inspiring teacher! Your baby is only 5 - as long as she's happy, enjoying being at school and playing with friends that's the most important thing at her age. The rest will follow - try not to worry too much! Sorry for the long waffle!
Hugs, Kim x

This is gorgeous Jayne, I love the cute image and one of my favourite colour combinations with such pretty detailing too.
I have just read Kim's comment and totally agree with her. It's seems that the school themselves are under pressure to do well and thus put unfair pressure on the pupils. I know it's easier said than done but try not to worry.

so stunning jayne.fabulous design and colours and i love the sweet image and details.
so sorry to hear about the parents evening.it seems very harsh to be having books with that many pages and words already.when jack started, they had word boxes first to learn the words and then they moved on to basic books and then they gradually make the books harder.
i hope you manage to get your daughter to sit and read her book, i always found bribery worked.my son had to read for 10 mins after school and then he could play with his toys and sometimes a little treat for doing extra well.

xx coops xx

General advice seems to be relax hunny! She'll grow to love reading if she comes to it when she is ready. (ooh hark at me oh childless woman of wisdom) yeah, forget it, what do I know about kids ..... Gorgeous card hun, just love the pearl beads, now those I could see me using, probably as jewellery. Wonderful colours, and that bear is super cute. Hugs Sxx

Gorgeous shape and colour.

If i was you i would check with the teacher that she has also bought home the right colour book for her reading ability, as there are children in my son's class who are on pink (the first tier), but my son is on blue (4th tier) and sometimes he comes home with pink books !!! and i have to go and change them - my son is also 5, good luck.
